Written by: BeckA lot of people from the right side of the blogosphere have a real chip on their shoulder when it comes to Anna Marie Cox, better known to many as The Wonkette. I've stayed away from the whole subject, mainly because I didn't have anything new to add to the conversation. The conversation, incidentally, was that she was an unfunny no-talent hack who only exists because some PR rep decided it would be nice to hire a web developer, some interns, and a writer with a scatology fetish. I really wish someone would hire me some interns. I guess I could try calling my three co-bloggers interns, but they'd probably just make fun of me. I have very sensitive feelings, so I'm not sure I could handle that. But I digress. A lot of people don't like her. A LOT of people. Really. Don't like her. But, since it's already been pointed out that she both looks and acts like a tranny hooker, I haven't had anything original to say. Now I do. While everyone has focused on her shortcomings as a blogger and as a human being, little specific has been said about her content. You see, she really is a no-talent partisan hack--emphasis on hack--and most of us can't endure reading her site for more than 30 seconds or so. In the interest of science, I decided to subject myself to a full frontal reading of her page. It wasn't long before a prime example of her "content" caught my eye. Take this quote from a recent post of hers: Bush "shuffles to the center" as Rove's "guns, gays and God" strategy falters amid voter concerns over the economy, unemployment, and oil prices. [ed: a link was included, but it was broken]Well, let's see, oil prices are off $5 from recent highs and generally expected to continue trending downwards, over 1 million jobs have been created in the past 4 months, and the economy is doing so well that virtually every person on Wall Street has had to dip into their emergency-back-up pants reserves multiple times so far this year. I wont bother to comment on her characterization of the Bush election strategy as consisting of "guns, gays, and God." I'll leave that to you, oh faithful readers. There, I'm done, now you'll have to pardon me while I go scratch my eyes out.
