Potentially huge news which will never get airtime...

You can't see a headline like "
UN inspectors find Iraqi missile parts" without a strong reaction. There's a big story here waiting to break, and it remains somewhat uncertain as to which way it will break. That's assuming it ever gets reported in the mainstream media. You see, the Iraqi missile parts weren't found in Iraq. They were found in the Netherlands.
It would appear that vast swaths of missile technology, dual-use military sites, and other material--much of which had been monitored by UNMOVIC prior to the war--has mysteriously vanished from Iraq. Some of it has turned up in Rotterdam. Hmmm...
Equipment relating to missiles and has other possible weapons uses has been spirited out of Iraq for recycling in scrapyards in the Netherlands, U.N. inspectors say.
In Iraq, a number of sites which once contained equipment that could be used for biological or chemical weapons, has been emptied and dismantled since May 2003, according to a report to the U.N. Security Council released on Monday.
"A number of sites which contained dual-use equipment that was previously monitored by U.N. inspectors have been systematically taken apart," said Ewen Buchanan, spokesman for the New York-based inspectors. "The question this raises is what happened to equipment known to have been at there.
"Where is it now? It's a concern," Buchanan asked.
A bigger question, going largely unasked, is Who and How. Who dismantled & exported this fairly substantial military infrastructure, and how did they get it out of the country without drawing attention before now?
