First, an amusing Schwarzenegger factoid: the "Girlie man," schtick first performed on Saturday Night Live was actually
written by arch-liberal Al Franken. Oh the irony.
Mitch McConnell taking the stage now. He's introducing his wife, Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao. The Republicans are playing up more of the "anyone, including immigrants, can achieve anything they want to in America."
Elaine's story is typical immigrant stuff. Came over as a child who spoke no English, lived in squalor, worked really hard, and became the first "Asian-Pacific-American woman" to serve on a presidential cabinet. How PC is that? Asian-Pacific-American? Is that really necessary? There's going to be a hyphen shortage soon if this kind of politically correct nonsense keeps spiraling out of control. From now on, I'm going to insist people only refer to me as a Scandinavian-German-Anglo-Saxon-Scotch-Irish-American. Anyone who drops even one of those adjectives will immediately hear, "What, so you think all us Western European descended Americans look the same?" Followed by throwing things.
Chao's speech is mediocre at best. Fortunately, it would appear to be over as well.
