You are all hereby enfranchised
Written by: Beck

The 2004 Weblog Awards continue (and will until the 12th), and you can (and should) vote daily. INCITE was somehow nominated for the Best Conservative Blog category (where I think the next smallest blog gets roughly 4X the readers), so I want all of you to go there to help me fulfill my goal of not ending in last place.

While you're there, you should have a look at some of the other categories as well. My thoughts on some of them:

Best Overall Blog: Instapundit, plain and simple. It's popular to regard Instapundit in much the same way that foreign countries regard the United States: enormous and successful and thus deserving of only contempt. While I happily take my share of potshots at Glenn, I don't think anyone puts out higher quality or more content than he does. Whither goes Glenn Reynolds so goes the blogosphere.

Best New Blog: INDC Journal deserves this one. There are other great blogs listed here (The Diplomad, My Pet Jawa), but none have established themselves as the essential daily read like Bill has for INDC.

Best Humor Blog: This one's easy. Protein Wisdom has the rest of this category outclassed completely in wit, smarts, and style.

Best Liberal Blog: The only liberal blog I read regularly isn't even listed here--the excellent In Search of Utopia--so I've been voting for Talk Left about whom I know little... but I do know one key fact: Jeff Goldstein in the past has invited her to guest blog as the "token liberal" at Protein Wisdom in his absence. That's good enough to earn my vote.

Best Conservative Blog: There's a ton of excellent blogs here (it should tell you something that Right Wing News and Outside the Beltway aren't even in the top five). The one I'm voting for is INCITE. I hope you'll do the same.

Best Culture Blog: I didn't even know they were a culture blog, but I'm voting for the Llama Butchers here anyway. If nothing else, they Keep INDC Bill in line.

Best Military Blog: I'm voting for Castle Argghhh! here--mostly because they're the only one of the category that I read regularly, but also because you can't go wrong with a blog which claims as writers not one, but two of "Jonah's military guys."

Best Canadian Blog: small dead animals for certain. After all, how can you go wrong with a name like that? The fact that they're the only Canadian blog I read regularly has nothing to do with my endorsement.

Best UK Blog: Samizdata. No question.

Best European (Non UK) Blog: The Dissident Frogman. No question.

Best Latino, Caribbean, or South American Blog: In Search of Utopia. No question. David should be in the Best Liberal Blog category, but I guess he'll have to settle for Best Latin Blog. Go vote for him--and then go get a friend to vote for him. Plus, this category has one of the lowest vote totals--so an individual vote really does make a difference here.

Best of the Top 100 Blogs: A lot of good blogs here, but I've gotta go with the front runner, Ace of Spades HQ. The guy's just too damn funny not to support here--not to mention the corresponding high volume and quality of his posts. If you don't feel like voting for a front runner, vote for The Politburo Diktat. He's done more to launch other bloggers than just about anyone else out there and deserves a lot of credit for it. Plus, he literally put INCITE on the map.

Best of the Top 100 - 250 Blogs: Gonna have to go with Serenity's Journal on this one.

Best of the Top 250-500 Blogs: Split here between Watcher of Weasels and Speed of Thought.

Best of the Top 1000-1750 Blogs: Sharp as a Marble.

Now go vote already!
